Filed Under (Script) by admin on 27-12-2009

UniProgy: How Do You Choose A Script? When you are building, or adding to, a website, what do you look for when you are selecting a script? Many people simply get inspired by a popular website and look for a script that performs in a similar manner. For instance, someone who would like to build a photo sharing site may use Flickr as their inspiration when searching for a script, and an individual who was looking for a microblogging platform may look for a script that follows the Twitter model. This is a logical approach, and there are many useful scripts out there for all of the most popular applications, like the aforementioned photo sharing and microblogging apps, video sharing, forums, dating sites, file sharing, shopping carts, real-time auctions, and help desk applications.

When you are buying a script for one of these applications, you probably intend to devote a significant  amount of time, energy, and capital into developing and subsequently marketing it. With so much at stake, you need to build your site on a solid foundation and not settle for less than what you really need to be successful. When you go shopping for a script, it is wise to be certain that you are getting all of the features that you want, without limitations. Your script needs to be able to put your ideas into action seamlessly and efficiently–it is that unique vision that is the key to your success. It is what will set your project apart from the rest.

UniProgy: You Vote, We Code! You don’t want to buy an incomplete script and have to go seeking out a series of customizations after the fact. Here at UniProgy, we have seen countless businesses fall into that situation because they settled for the limited scripts that were readily available, only to find that they simply didn’t have all of the features that they needed to actualize their concept. UniProgy exists because we saw a need for scripts that transcend the status quo, and we recognize that savvy webmasters have very specific needs. This is why we decided to ask users what features they would like in a script. We want to apply our expertise to the creation of a script that people really want, and the only way to find out is to ask you to cast your vote here on the UniProgy website.

Don’t settle for less than what you really need. Vote for the script you would like to see, then sit back and watch UniProgy take your vision and make it a reality.

E Commerce Provider: Options for Betterment

Filed Under (Script) by admin on 18-12-2009

What makes any software acceptable among people and why should people use it when ample software with readymade features exists in the market? The question is indeed haunting for people on the process of manufacturing software and the answer is simple. Find out some of the best things that can enhance your software’s acceptability in the market.

If you are an e commerce provider, then some of the following features, functions, and benefits should be implemented in your software for making it an up to date version in the market.

1.     Protection against Swindling:

It is a common problem; online payment would often get you into huge troubles which are not easy to combat. If there is some reliable fraud screening system, then this problem can be fought with. The primary requirement against swindling issues is to update the data regularly, change password regularly and maintain the software even if it is extremely time consuming.

2.     Collection of Dues:

Businesses are necessary to collect and report taxes on sales. This applies for all countries whether they are Asians, Europeans or citizens of other continents. There is an additional VAT supplement. This must also be met in with a glad smile, since they cannot be evaded off completely.

3.     Choice for Payment:

Digital software has a wide appeal especially for its ability to adjust payment options with clients. This is presently a priority for most software vendors since it allows optimum simplicity as regards payment opportunities. The payment gateways are generally 3rd party intervention.

4.     Safety / Accountability

Retaining and storing customer data and credit card details requires general security. Banks have very firm rules regarding the storage and security of such information. Software developers using a 3rd-party supplier for software e-commerce does not require to be worried with security or liability issues related to the storage and security of credit card data.

5.     Exchange Options

E-commerce companies that focus in software are global, and as such they are familiar to dealing with businesses in the International marketplace. As a consequence, many are able to handle multi-currency options. Allowing customers to pay in their limited currency can considerably increase the close rate for sales.

6.     Immediate Delivery

Many software e-commerce companies offer mechanisms that permit software developers to provide instant release of the purchased products. Software e-commerce providers can offer secure access to a complete downloadable version of the software for a narrow time phase, or they can offer automatic delivery of unique registration keys to customers who complete the purchase process.

Why use Magento Commerce to develop your online store?

Filed Under (Script) by admin on 13-12-2009

Magento is become a very popular open source store technology. It has been released for over a year now, and the current versions are very stable.

We have been developing in Magento commerce, and also using it for your own retail for a year now too. We often get asked about Magento Commerce and why we recommend it as a good online store technology.

So, Why use Magento as your online store?

In summary, I think there are 4 main benefits in developing a website in Magento:

Features

Magento has some fantastic features ‘out of the box’. Most store owners these days want technology that is comprehensive and easy to use. Magento fits the bill. Great features are included in the free community edition such as:

  • Wishlists
  • Multi store/mall feature
  • Email lists
  • Compare products
  • Bundle/Grouped/Digital products & more
  • CMS system for static pages
  • Good SEO performance
  • Advanced searching
  • Layered/Filter navigation

and much more.

We have used all of these technologies in our own installations, as well as client installations. Most features are really good, and the ability to run multiple stores (with same or different inventory) from one database, with completely different ’skins’ if you want, is fantastic.

API & Integration

The API is how programmers interface other applications with Magento. Magento has a sophisticated and extendable API allowing it to be connected with many other applications (both web applications and standalone).

For example, you can connect Magento to a number of external accounting systems, email list management tools, ERP systems and more.

This gives Magento a geat deal of flexibility to grow with your business. It can be integrated tightly with other inventory/order/customer systems, and made to work seamlessly.

Magento code structure

Magento has been designed very well from the outset. There is a clear distinction between ‘core’ code and community/3rd party code. This means you can install other extensions and modules without fear of impacting Magento upgrades in future or breaking how your site looks.

This structure has been integral in allowing MagentoCommerce to grow as fast as it has around the world and is a great reason to use Magento. Many people running older open source ecommerce software are upgrading to Magento.

Community & Professional Support

Magento has a very active community, both of users and developers, many of whom are magento experts. There is already a huge number of extensions that have been built for Magento, both free and commercial, allowing you to upgrade your store in any number of ways with a large variety of 3rd party services and systems.

If you have problems, chances are there is a bunch of users willing to help in forums or professional developers available with the skills to get the job done.

This is only a brief summary of why I think Magento is a great technology to develop online stores in. The community edition is free to download and use, there is heaps of code out there to extend it, and it has a strong API to allow you to integrate the store into your business processes as you grow.

For more information about Magento, or getting stores developed, talk to Magento experts about installation and development.
